A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.8 on Richter scale and a series of aftershocks struck Nepal on Saturday. The quakes also jolted parts of North India and Northeast India. Widespread damage has been reported from Nepal. Indian Army is also sending Major General JS Sandhu to Nepal to oversee Indian rescue efforts, say Defence sources.C-130 J aircraft of IAF is returning with stranded Indians from Katmandu. One C 17 dispatched to Nepal with 96 NDRF personnel on onboard and 15 tonnes of relief material
